CEO of Daughters of Charity Services writes letter to the Chancellor regarding the upcoming Spring Budget

Dear Chancellor,

Subject: Daughters of Charity Services – Spring Budget Representation

On behalf of the charity Daughters of Charity Services, I am writing with regards to a number of concerns that we believe must be addressed in the 2024 Spring Budget.

People across the UK, from the elderly to those experiencing homelessness, are struggling with extreme financial hardship due to the cost-of-living crisis and lack of funding to vital services. Sadly, the people most affected by this in our society are those who are most vulnerable.

Daughters of Charity Services represents a number of projects founded by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul – a society of Catholic women that have been serving people living in poverty, as well as vulnerable and marginalised people, in Britain for nearly two hundred years.

Our projects have reported the following five issues to be the most pressing for the people they serve:

  1. Support Families through the Cost-of-Living Crisis

  2. Support for Children and Schools

  3. Support our Social Care System

  4. Support for Homeless People

  5. Support for Local Authorities

It is essential that these matters are addressed in the upcoming Spring Budget to safeguard the well-being of families and vulnerable individuals across the country. Our submission provides more information on how these five matters can be tackled.

Should you have any further questions about our submission, or if you would like to arrange a visit to one of our projects and speak to the people they serve firsthand, please do get in touch.

Sincerely,

Mark Choonara
